I thought you were really inspiring and very sensible! I had a son who was stillborn and we discovered from his post mortem that he was intersexed. I will always wonder how he would have felt and feel that this aspect of him is one of the very few pieces of concrete information that we'll ever have about him so it is of huge interest to me. I thought, watching you, that we could have found some really good role models for him had he lived. So, thank you very much. The struggles that people with genital disorders have to go through is appalling because most of it is based on ignorance and what society thinks is normal. Whatever normal is. As a health care worker I get some hard questions that don't always have one correct answer. Often the answer is left up to the choice of medical workers because of the fear of the patient and society's willingness to 'trust the doctor' blindly. Often times I am left to consult with patients and their families because the M.D. does not know the words to say and urges me along with the phrase " Go talk to them, Dixon, you are so good with awkward moments". I admit that I use simple words and enlist humor when it is appropriate because it can relief the edgieness people are feeling. Now that I have seen this program and have first-hand testimony from people who register in their own unique forms of gender I can present them with some A-Plus resources and words of knowledge and understanding.
